Taking Stock...

Sometimes it's just good to take a bit of time to think things over, to take stock, to look back and reflect. I have been reading recently about sketching, ( Shari has been posting some great links to some great sketchers!) I realised how much I have missed drawing since leaving art school, how I have not made much time for it. The topics that Mav has been posting about for the last two days, have spurred me on seek out the nice things in my day..and just get your head down and work through the hard parts. For me, today, a nice part was just looking back through my sketch book, and picking up my Tria markers again.......

As I mentioned the other day, I have been preparing my application for New Designers and it really has made me sit down and look at what I have achieved in the last seven months (because I had to for the application you see :D)....it is sometimes just really nice to look at all the things you have done, as opposed to the things you haven't, and give yourself a pat on the back for taking the steps, no matter how small, in the right direction.

Hope everyone is having wonderful evening...xox

Your sketchbook pages--wow. I'm loving it. Thanks so much for posting them...the inspiration!! Wish I could come over and look through them with you over tea. I loved what you posted yesterday on mav's blog about wanting to write a book about pattern. I'm so interested/curious. You should definitely do some posts about your pattern ideas. We would all love it.

Wow, your post made me all smiles. Hope you too have a lovely night...Devon tomorrow!!! xoxo S

It seems all to easy to stop drawing once you leave the art school environment and convince yourself you've created more than you think... which is the main reason lj & i set up our two new blogs this year. That way we'd be able to see just how much we did/didn't do on a daily/monthly/yearly basis. Loved seeing your beautiful creations, especially fond of the geranium necklace spied on flickr... and love reading your blog which we stumbled across via the equally wonderful glass doorknob. It seems you've been very, very busy indeed. Cheers, g

I totally agree with shari. If there's a tea party like that, count me in! :) I'm always interested to find out what inspires artists/designers... what a wonderful sketchbook, I can imagine the excitement it brings just by looking at it. :)

hey, that bro! is one funny boy..... ;-)

The world is just an amazing place filled with surprises:D Today morning (Sat) together with my hubby, we had a pleasure to meet your Mum (what a nice, sweet woman:)) and She gave me your web page address (btw, THINGS you made are Very BEAUTIFUL). I was thinking for a long time of studying Design by myself (now, more as an evening class student in a Dept of Continuing Education:) and I have to admit that talking to your Mum and seeing your own amaizing creations gave me an inspiration I was looking for. Have a lovely weekend, would glad to keep in touch, cheers:D
