marques et moments | marks and moments...

Thinking a lot just now about all the little moments in life that add up to leave 'marks' on your consciousness, on your memory. Not the little dents and dings, but the larger stains and marks that you can't get out....the ones that corrode somehow and somewhere, making you look at them often. The one's that tend to linger in my mind are the ones that even in their stubbornness can be quite lovely....

On my mind just now, something I am reading....

- The Tent by Margaret Atwood....so unusual and creative, little parts of it keep coming into focus..

From Life Stories, The Tent....

" I'm working on my own life story...........If you'd wanted the narrative line you should have asked earlier, when I still knew everything and was more than willing to tell. That was before I discovered the virtues of scissors, the virtues of matches."

...what's leaving a mark with you right now?
Happy Wednesday :)

what a wonderful quote. i think it's the small things i remember (or that stain me--love that statement) that always baffle me. why do they stick? why do i recall them and *not* that i already told my boyfriend twice that arcade fire are coming to town? sigh.

Is the cover of that book by Rob Ryan? (such a talented guy) x

janet - the cover is actually by atwood herself {and another person called Webb}...I meant to mention, the books is full of her illustrations...really wonderful.

I thought it was ryan as well at first :)

What is leaving a mark with me? What a question! I have to ponder this for a very long time.

Abigail... you have already left a mark on me with the lovely jewels you design :)

I can't afford them now but I can look at them...and dream. Beauty in itself is a gift for my brain and you offer it to me everyday... for free!!

Thank you very much.

I love the photo on the right and how you used this whilst thinking about marks that are left on our lives. Beautiful words and thoughts, thank you for the spark that keeps the fire going.
