American Pie....

...the day the computer died.

I wasn't on it myself at the time so I am not sure what exactly happened....all I know is that our computer stopped working. We now have a new one, which I am on now and is in the process of being set -up...but I am now in the myre of trying to figure out what I still have...what I have lost.

It kind of hits you in waves....you remember another thing, and another. At the moment, all my photos...and my saved links are the things that are hitting me hardest. I hope to still have all my tax return work {saved somewhere in an email}..that loss, right now, would be too much to bear.

I might be able to get it all back, but I don't know yet......I am trying not to think about it. Awful...:(

Suffice to say, I wouldn't mind going off to Paris right now...

and ps - I can't get the spell check to work, so if there are mistakes....sorry.

Geez, that's a fine start to the new year.

Computer betrayal can be very frustrating, I know only too well.

The upside, you have a brand new computer to put links and photos, etc on.

Hope you can get your links, photos, etc back!

Oh! I'm so sorry! We had a computer die late last year; it just died without warning. Our tech guy was able to salvedge the harddrive though, so you may want to look into that...

Hope you can retrieve all your lost data--I know how frustrating and disconcerting that is! *sends lots of good thoughts your way*

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that! This is a reminder to me that I need to back up my damn files. Sigh.

I've got my fingers crossed you'll be able to recover the majority of it--there's always a way!

Oh Abigail!

How heart wrenching! Sending good recovery of files thoughts to you...

It happened to me once and it really is so devastating... I know have an online backup thingy that does it automatically at 3 a.m every morning. It's a small fee a month but a great sense of relief.

Comiserations! I think you definitely shouldn't give up on retrieving your files from your old pc. A good pc technician should be able to help you.
Being a techie myself, I avoid saving stuff on my pc. Photos I can save on Flickr or Photobucket. For links I use a service called Stumbleupon (www.stumbleupon.com). This means my links are saved on the internet as opposed to my pc, so I can access them from anywhere and don't have to worry about my pc breaking down.
