Gathering...

Despite it being 'Winter' in California...it was more like an early, mild Autumn from the point of view of the plant-life. I managed to find these amazing leaves, and got pressing. I am imagining very large, very delicate brooch forms...the red one, pierced from sheet metal - the brown ones, perhaps carved forms...?

I think I will make those for an exhibition I have coming up in early summer...! But my mind is whirring on them now...

This month is speeding by! January is supposed to be slow and sleepy...no such thing on the to-do front...just me that's a little slow and sleepy. I think I want to hibernate ;)

Hopefully kicking off my little sale tomorrow - in time for lurve day...so stay tuned for that. I'd better get back to the bench and catch up some, the day is already running away from me.

Hello to you, and to 2009...

...2009. More than half way through month one, no less. Who would have thought?

I had a fantastic vacation in America, staying with my brother and sister-in-law {Sacramento and some time in San Francisco}...via Lake Tahoe {snow on the beach is a wonder, who knew?}...*a few snaps from the trip above*...

I even had the pleasure of meeting the divine Diana at Tartine for tea whilst in SF...good times!!

So. 2009. Three years at this blogging lark - I can hardly believe it! I was speaking to someone recently who remarked that *no one* can be THAT interesting...and, laughing, I had to agree with him ;)) I really am very privileged to have people stop by and read my ramblings and continue to care to peek at the happenings from the workbench...so, truly, thank you.

Now that I am back, I had better give you a wee run down of what to expect from me in 2009, in the coming weeks, at least...for starters, there will be a sale in the shop ahead of Valentines Day {starting this week, hopefully}!! I have had stock come into the studio from a Christmas show, and so...will be doing a RTS {ready to ship} sale on those items - including some bigger pieces too, so keep your eyes peeled if you are in the market for a treat...!!

Merry Merry...

Hello everyone...just stopping in, after what seems like a mammoth break - and a crazy busy few weeks finishing up work! I am in California now visiting my brother {for the first time in 4 years!} and my lovely sister in law...enjoying different horizons and {sort of} blue skies...

I just wanted to wish everyone the most wonderfully Merry Christmas - thinking of you all, friends, and hoping you are all having, and have had, a truly lovely day with family and friends...

Enjoy your loved ones and appreciate all the good things you have in your life. Tis the time of year to remember...and to focus on that above all else.

Carnage...

I looked around the studio last night, after doing my last big post office drop with all my US and Europe-bound orders...and was, as I very often am, faced with a scene of carnage! I am not sure if it can even be called 'organised chaos'...but it really is a scene that faces me all too often. Perhaps it is time to admit it - I am just plain messy when I make ;)) 

Well! At least something neat comes out of it in the end, egh? 

Anyway...I thought I should share - unedited. Next time you see my bench, it will be swept and cleared - finished up for Christmas {which, I am still shocked to be reminded, is really not much more than one working week away - eek...or should I say, EEK! Capitals seem called for.}...

Looking forward to getting torn into my UK* orders now...and am almost, almost, beginning to feel Festive - imagine! ;)

Righto...signing off for the night, and a quiet one in too! Bliss :)

:: A bowl of bright pink soup {Beetroot, Parsnip, Horseradish and Ginger, should you ask!} which was delicious - I really will get around to restoring my coffee table one of these days!

:: Wrapping and boxing up orders - often my favourite part of the process...I just got new Moo cards printed with some of my new designs! I always love getting new printed goodies...

:: Wandering home in the pitch dark from the post office an hour or so ago and, like a total sap, looking up at the enormous pale moon and thinking how beautiful it is tonight.

Right! Back to the workshop with me...
